Solving the Real Problems with Today’s Start Systems

One of the most common frustrations we hear with existing start systems is the amount of wiring required across the track or facility. Not only does this slow down setup, but it also introduces reliability issues and safety concerns.

Another frequent complaint is sound coverage. In many venues, athletes struggle to hear the start clearly, especially during staggered events. Parents and coaches in the stands often hear nothing at all, which can create uncertainty and reduce confidence in the officiating.

FlexStarter was designed to address all of these issues.

Because the system is fully wireless, receivers can be distributed anywhere in the stadium without running cables. This allows sound to be placed exactly where it is needed.

Our primary focus is ensuring that every athlete hears the start clearly and simultaneously. For championship-level events, we recommend placing one receiver per lane for staggered starts such as the 400, 200, 4x200, and 4x100. For straightaway starts like the 100 meters and distance events, two receivers positioned along the start line provide excellent coverage.

FlexStarter also allows you to go beyond the start line. A receiver can be placed near the stands so parents and coaches can clearly hear the start as well. This added visibility and clarity builds confidence in the system and removes doubt about whether the race started cleanly.

By distributing sound throughout the venue, FlexStarter creates a consistent, professional start experience for athletes, officials, coaches, and spectators alike.
